What is Ultherapy?
Ultherapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive procedure that uses
ultrasound and the body’s own natural healing process to lift, tone,
and tighten loose skin on the brow, face, neck and under the chin.
It is the only FDA-approved procedure to lift skin on these areas
non-surgically and has no downtime. A consultation is required to
determine your individual treatment plan.
How does an Ultherapy treatment work?
Ultherapy uses medical ultrasound technology which passes beneath
the skin to stimulate the deep structural support layers of the
skin—including those typically addressed in a surgical
facelift—without disturbing the surface of the skin. Two passes are
typically performed, one in the deeper tissue and a second closer to
the surface to give lift and tightening in a single treatment.
What can I expect when receiving a treatment?
Ultherapy is performed using a smooth handheld device that your
certified technician will hold against your skin. This device
captures an image of the deep layers of your skin and projects it
onto a screen. The technician performing the procedure will look at
this image to determine exactly where treatment is required. Using
the same handheld device, low levels of focused heat are delivered
to the area that needs treatment. Patients report feeling sensations
of prickling or warmth beneath the skin when the ultrasound energy
is delivered into the tissue. The whole procedure takes between an
hour to an hour and a half or so depending on the areas being
treated. Most patients require only one session to obtain their
desired results, although some will repeat the treatment depending
on their degree of skin laxity and desired outcome.
What are the side effects of Ultherapy?
Following treatment with Ultherapy, patients are able to immediately
resume their normal daily activities. Some patients may experience
mild redness and/or slight swelling but this should disappear within
a matter of hours. Slight tenderness under the areas of treatment is
normal. Tingling and numbness is also normal for some patients and
resolves on its own.
What improvement will I see?
The results of Ultherapy build over two to three months following
the procedure. Trials have shown that nine out of ten patients
experienced noticeable lifting in the brow line which made the eyes
look more open. Patients also tend to experience firmer, tighter
skin, lifting and tightening under the chin and a smoother texture
with more even skin tone.
How many treatments will I need?
Most patients will require only one session to obtain their desired
results, although some will repeat the treatment depending on their
degree of skin laxity and desired outcome.
